Creating my own personal life and business coach
There are certain things I am very bad at:
- Maintaining and nurturing business contacts, i.e. “networking”.
- Business self-promotion.
I’m just not very motivated by that stuff. Perhaps my new AI friends can help with that? Perhaps what I need is a personal AI life and business coach. How can I build that?
First things first
A project like this needs a name. At first I thought of Marcus, from Marcus Aurelius, who was both a philosopher and man of action and I’m sure would have made a great life coach. But then I had a better idea. You’ll have seen from this website that I am a big fan of William Blake, and he famously said “I must create a system, or be enslaved by another man’s. I will not reason and compare: my business is to create.” It’s become my life motto. I wrote the quote out by hand a while ago:
This was actually said by Blake’s mythological god Los in the poem Jerusalem:
In Blake’s crazy world, Los is the embodiment of human creativity and inspiration. Also… Life Operating System — LOS! Isn’t that perfect!
Creating LOS, my Life Operating System
So anyway, how do I go about creating such I system? Firstly I gathered together information about me from various sources, all saved in Markdown format in a folder called LOS in my Obsidian vault:
- My business website home page.
- I asked ChatGPT, which I have been using a lot until recently, to make a summary about me as a brief for a life and business coach.
- I connected Claude to my Github repository for this website, and gave Claude access to all the content here. I then asked it to summarise it for a life and business coach.
- Finally I asked Claude to look at all the information I had gathered so far and to create a series of questions for me that would act as a further briefing document for my life coach. It came up with a large document of 38 questions, which I am still working through.
I set up a new GitHub repository for these markdown documents, then I created a project in Claude and gave it access to these four documents via GitHub. In this way I should be able to add more information over time and for LOS to have instant access to it.
The next step is to use this setup to develop a plan for the coming months, to address those two things I am bad at… I’ll let you know how it goes.
