Cakes that I have made for the birthdays of my sons.

Over the years I have made various decorated birthday cakes for my sons, the decoration being based on whatever they are currently into.

The very first decorated birthday cake I made was R2D2 from Star Wars. The R2D2 on top of the cake was made from a block of white chocolate I cast and then cut into the shape I think. I remember that it was too thick to cut slices of the cake properly. I also tried to paint food colouring onto the white chocolate, which didn’t work. So a bit crappy:

Another poor effort, The Pirates of The Caribbean cake. What can I say? As I recall we had a party for a lot of kids so I guess I didn’t have much time to prepare the cake…

One of my faveorites, gollum from the Hobbit in his cave, with Bilbo:

The home of Bilbo Baggins from The Hobbit, with Gandalf coming to visit. I don’t have any photographs of this one, only a short video:

I really don’t recall this one at all. It looks like it was inspired by the movie Jaws but I don’t recall any of my kids being into that. But one of them went scuba diving so perhaps that’s the theme:

A cake inspired by The Infinity Gauntlet from the Marvel universe:

I could only find a video of the Minecraft cake. Very fiddly to make, mixing different colors of fondant icing, rolling it out then cutting it into little squares:

I did Two different Terraria cakes. The first one I tried to glaze, without finding out how to do it properly,so it didn’t turn out so well:

The second one came out much better:

I think this may be inspired by Warhammer? I don’t recall:

World of Warcraft

I bought two little LED lights from a Euro store to light the waters of this Subnautica themed cake. I like the idea of cakes with their own illumination, I must do that again:

My latest effort, inspired by the video game Red Dead Redemption:
