Posting every day in June: mission accomplished
productivity
writing
At the start of June I decided to try to post something to this website every day. Mission accomplished. Was it worth it?

At the start of June I made it a goal to write a post for this website every day. I did it! You can see all the posts I did in June on my all posts page.
What have I learned?
- It was fairly easy to write posts.
- Some days I didn’t have the time or enthusiasm to do it. Having a backlog of posts to do (the most was three) makes it less fun.
- It’s good to make the effort to do something like this every day to get into the habit of doing it regularly.
- There are certain things where it’s good if you feel bad about missing a day. For example, exercise or dieting. That’s because with those things, you do actually lose out if you miss a day. You become a bit less fit, or a bit fatter. But posting to this website is not one of those things, so there is no point in making myself feel bad about it by setting a goal to post at a regular frequency.
- Having a daily goal means sometimes I would post stuff that was a bit crappy, or unfinished.
- A good approach to posting writing is to write something, then leave it for a week or two, then return and edit it, and then posting it publicly. I should perhaps use that method in the future.
Was it worth it? I think so, yes. I’m finding it easier to write than I used to, it’s one of those things that the more you do it, the easier it gets. So going forwards I am going to try posting more, although not with a fixed quantity goal.
My goal for July is to try to make two videos a week, one business focused one which I can post to my LinkedIn profile, and one personal one which I’ll post here.
